My man Harlan Ellison tells it like it is about Hollywood and the pillaging of writers. The old boy can still summon the heat.

A long, long time ago, I did a review of one of "Harlan Ellison's Watching," a collection of his movie reviews and essays on movies, for a magazine in Los Angeles.

A few days after it hit the stands, I got a call from Ellison himself telling me how much he enjoyed the review. We had a friendly argument about gun control (it grew out of something I wrote in the review), and he told me again how much he enjoyed the review and would keep an eye out for more of my stuff.

That's still one of the highlights of my career.
